A Remarkable Conservation Success
The Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation has permanently protected the 107-acre Marianne Girling Nature Reserve, thanks to a generous bequest from the estate of Marianne Girling.
The new reserve is an important ecological extension to the Westermain Woods Nature Reserve, creating a larger, connected landscape of forests, wetlands and wildlife habitat.
Those who first explored the property described it as "a hidden part of Lake of Bays that time had forgotten." Now, this remarkable landscape, including Dreamhaven Lake, will remain protected forever.
