The Mushroom Foray on September 3rd will take place on Crown land about 20 minutes south of Dorset off of Hwy #35. We will meet at 9 AM at a clearing beside the Sherborne Lake Rd. at Dawson Ponds. From there we will walk for 3 km. on a closed road into the Sherborne
Lake Dam. The road passes through some mature forest, swamp and marshland providing differing habitat for a variety of mushroom species. After we explore the forest near the dam and enjoy the view of Sherborne Lake we will return to the cars by the same road. It is approximately 6 km. from the parking area to the dam and back. We will be walking on an unpaved road with a few moderately difficult hills. We will be back at the cars by noon.
